The serious mental health challenges facing our community have rightly received growing attention.

Another aspect of mental health that warrants attention is the environment in which we live.

There is a growing body of research that recognises the importance of spending time in natural environments for mental health. Urban forests and green space provide respite from the constant demands of everyday life and the relentless stimulation of urban environments. They can help reduce stress and mental fatigue and restore our capacity for attention.

The campaign to protect Link Road Forest has received a significant show of support from Hunter Workers, the region’s peak union body.

On the 14th of August 2026 our epetition to the Legislative Council (Upper House) of NSW Parliament for permanent protection of the Link Road Forest, closed after 3 months with 10,456 signatures.
