Join us for a fascinating evening exploring the history hidden beneath Link Road Forest and the surrounding Wallsend area. While today we see a beautiful native forest above ground, the landscape also holds a rich and complex history of coal mining, underground workings and transport.

Local historian Ed Tonks will draw on his extensive knowledge of Wallsend, coal mining and the local tramway to reveal some of the stories beneath our feet. His one-hour presentation will offer a rare opportunity to learn more about the forces that shaped this area and to see the landscape from an entirely different perspective.
