Newcastle Herald: “‘Least they could do’: developer accused of pulling out of resident meeting”

The Newcastle Herald has reported on the cancelled meeting between Eden Estates and representatives of the Link Road Forest Campaign, highlighting the community’s concerns about the lack of meaningful engagement on the proposed development.

Campaign spokesperson Ian McKenzie said the least Eden Estates could do was meet face-to-face with the community, particularly given the scale of the proposal and the serious unresolved issues surrounding traffic impacts, infrastructure shortfalls, staging over decades and the loss of one of the region’s last significant unprotected forests.

The proposal to rezone 574 hectares of Link Road Forest for up to 4,200 homes raises major questions about long-term planning for Newcastle and Lake Macquarie. The campaign continues to call for transparency, proper consultation and the protection of Link Road Forest as public conservation land for future generations.
