Concert Line-up

The Doctor's Wife

"The Doctor's Wife" is an acoustic- based musical duo featuring mainly original music along with covers of songs they wish they had written!

Their sweet spot is playing small intimate shows, but they are equally happy on the big stage.......

Peter(singer & multi-instrumentalist) and Nicky(singer),will let you into their musical world and share their creative journey with you, connecting through well crafted songs(and the stories behind them), nuanced instrumentation, and well developed harmonies .

Steel City Sue

Steel City Sue brings her own brand of ragtime industrial folk. Sue wrote award-winning song Boom Town and is known for ardent and dry-humoured songs about local exploitation, knotty love, bad driving, and even climate catastrophes.

Gabrielle Newland

Gabrielle Newland is a vocalist, guitarist, and mountain dulcimer player based in Newcastle. Heavily influenced by Joni Mitchell, Judy Collins, and Jean Ritchie, she plays a variety of covers and instrumental folk tunes from around the world. Gabrielle is also a proud member and Secretary of the award-winning Newcastle Chamber Choir.

Derek Dowding

A songwriter with a difference; quirky wordsmith, Derek Dowding has almost always included a political perspective within his work.
Possessing an acute wit and a keen eye for the absurd or unjust, his knack as an outspoken and observant song writer has landed him several awards recognising his penchant for political satire, in particular.
Usually crammed with cutting social-commentary, Derek’s observational passions also incorporate thoughtful, illustrative and evocative poetry.
As well as his lyrical pursuits, Derek is also a multiple CONDA award-winning stage actor.
Noted roles including: Che in “Evita”, Abelard in “Abelard and Heloise”, Roo in “Summer of the Seventeenth Doll” and Jean Val Jean in “Les Miserables”

Derek’s debut album “Home Brew” includes many songs referencing environmental concerns.

Tripple Effect

Tripple Effect is an Newcastle-based award-winning acoustic folk trio comprising sisters Carrie and Lynden Jacobi with Len McCarthy. Using guitars, ukuleles, mandolin, banjo, bodhran, recorder and sweet harmonies, their repertoire is informed by their backgrounds of activism in contemporary social and environmental issues, as well as songs of humour and heart.

Two Voices in the Crowd

Two Voices in the Crowd is a vocal duo based in Mayfield NSW. Kathy and Matthew Clarke perform songs of Love, Hope, and Caring for the environment.
